as salaamu alaikum

ive also breastfed my son till he was 2 years old. i agree with everything that you say. i wish more mothers out there would give breastfeeding a try. its the best thing that i could ever give my son. the worst part of it was weaning him, which he got over in a few days and i think it was harder for me than him. the look of appreciation as he drank his milk is something i can never forget.

As-salaamu-alaikum sisters.

I have breast fed 2 children for 2yrs each. I have no regrets. My children are now 6 and 4yrs respectively and I will indeed do it again. Upon weaning them off, I think I suffered more than them as I felt our close bond would dissolve. But I was wrong. Forging a bond with your little one is so important. The eye contact that you make during breast feeding. Holding the little hand. Caressing the soft cheek. Priceless. For those who think it's too difficult, I am confused. It costs nothing but your time. You don't need to buy formula, sterilisers, bottles or teats. Nor do you have to lug these things around all day. Breastmilk is available on demand. It's always the right temperature. It's got the perfect RDA for your babe. And it's something only you can do (I haven't heard of wet-nursing recently, does it still happen?) So go on, give it a try. Might be hard the first few days, but what new thing isn't?
