Could you be iron-deficient?

MUMS NEED IRON, TOO

Many women don’t get enough iron, and iron-deficient mums are not only tired, but can also be grumpy and unable to enjoy their children as much as they’d like to.

Ask your GP to test your iron levels, especially if you feel run down.

Dark-green leafy vegetables like spinach and kale, fortified cereals, lean red meat and egg yolks are good sources of iron.

If you do need to take supplements, watch them like a hawk.

The tablets look just like sweets, but they can make your baby seriously ill or can even be fatal.

If you ever suspect that your child has opened your bottle of iron tablets, take him and the bottle to the doctor’s surgery or casualty straight away.

Ask your pharmacist to put them in a childproof bottle if they don’t come like that.
